Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has proclaimed July 2019 “Hire A Veteran Month,” the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced in a July 2 press release.
The proclamation recognized 327,000 Minnesota veterans for their service in advance of DEED’s 13th Annual Veterans Career Fair, which will be held in Brooklyn Center, MN on July 24 from 2-6pm. Veterans, active military members, and their spouses are invited to attend.
The event will be a cornerstone of the state-wide effort to connect military service members with employment opportunities in July 2019, and throughout the year.
“Veterans returning from deployments face higher unemployment rates and experience more challenges entering the workforce,” stated Governor Walz. “I encourage all Minnesota employers to give veterans the uppermost consideration when hiring.”
“DEED’s Veterans Career Fair is a way for Minnesota employers to connect with these experienced, resourceful leaders,” commented DEED Commissioner Steve Grove.
“Veterans are leaders who take initiative when something needs to be done,” said Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke. “The men and women who have worn the uniform are driven to succeed. They are poised and ready for their next mission — their mission back home in Minnesota.”
